Tips & Tricks
Oily Skin Facial
This lemon and cornmeal facial helps when your skin feels greasy. The lemon extract will regulate the over productio of oil, while the cornmeal softens your skin and buffs away dead skin cell that clogs your pores.
First wash your face. Before any scrub you must start with a fresh clean face.
Refresh a tired face with refreshing rose water spray. Rose water stimulates blood flow so your skin looks vibrant and rosy. Because its an astringent, it has a light toning effect.
Place petals of one rose in a heat safe container. Add 2 cups of boiling water. Cover and steep until cool. Strain and squeeze any excess water out of the petals. Pour the liquid into a spray bottle and chill in the fridge. It will keep for two weeks if kept in the refrigerator.
No mess way to clean chrome
Lightly rub faucets with a damp cloth sprinkled with baking soda. The Spots will disappear with no scrubbing or rinsing, so your chrome will shine.
Natural Daily Detox
Even if you've sworn off Diet Coke and Doritos, your body still gets hit with a daily barrage of toxins—poisonous, synthetic substances found in everything from coffee to household cleaners. Over time, a buildup of toxins can cause health problems, such as fatigue, sluggish digestion, and allergies. "Even if you're health conscious, it's still a good idea to do a detox to push those toxins out of your system," says Nicky Calice, an aesthetician in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
She shares three easy ways to come clean, inside and out, on a daily basis.
Break a sweat. Perspiration is one of the most efficient ways your body eliminates toxins, so add a Pilates class or brisk morning walk to your routine. Even better, take a hot yoga class. Because the studio is heated to between 90 and 100 degrees, you'll sweat while doing downward-facing dog—and help along your detox.
Exfoliate with an all-natural scrub designed to improve your circulation and help shed toxins through the skin. To make your own, chop up some fresh gingerroot or parsley; add a handful of sea salt; and scrub yourself in the shower. You also can use a body brush (such as cactus bristle) or loofah while showering.
Eat red grapefruit for breakfast. By taking in fresh citrus fruit, which contains digestion-boosting enzymes, first thing in the morning, you'll more quickly eliminate the previous day's toxins from your body. Like most fresh fruit, grapefruit is loaded with antioxidants designed to fight free radicals. Plus, it improves circulation.
Unstick Candle Wax
Remove dried-on wax from almost any surface with your hairdryer. Blow warm air over the dried wax and, when it melts, wipe away using a clean cloth.
Level Picture Frames
Cut small flat pieces of cork and glue them to the back of the frame. The cork will grip the wall, keeping the picture/artwork level.
Doing Yoga! Yes yoga. 20 minutes four times a week can help smooth the lumpy bumpy spots on the butt and thighs. Yoga increases circulation which will flush out trapped fat and fluids. This will now allow the skin to lay flat. It's worth it for the legs and butts we want.
